The creation of a knowledge‑based society adapting to change and initiating a versatile progress is a task difficult to achieve, but necessary in order to adapt to innovation and market needs in today’s social reality. The issue of entrepreneurship policy remains a sensitive issue at the European Union level, thus a common solution on the matter of entrepreneurial mind‑set is sought for. The research performed reveals the need for the improvement of entrepreneurial skills in the higher education institutions of the Visegrad Group countries, as the promotion of students’ entrepreneurial mind‑set has a direct impact on the formation of their personality, labour market, encourages the innovative business establishment thus improving the role played by young people in society and the economy. The distinguished key stages of entrepreneurship policy allow for the assessment and comparison of the status of entrepreneurship policy in the European Union and the higher education of the Visegrad Group countries, as well as for the discussion of new entrepreneurship policy initiatives and challenges.
