The noble example of Vileišis family life, based on the highest virtues of self-abnegation, self-sacrifice and compassion inspires us of learning again to humans. According to Vincas Mykolaitis Putinas at the end of the 19th and the beginning of 20th century understanding their Lithuanian national identity the Vileišiai family became symbols of the Lithuanian national revival. So, nowadays, in the atmosphere of cynicism and cynical abnegation of cultural and moral values seeing, hearing and reading about the license of bureaucracy, corruption and violence from different ranks of people on TV, radio, and in the press comes back the memory of Vileišis family life and reminds us of the significance of moral values for the personality education. Inspired by this example the author of the article examines the concepts of Ch. Taylor, M. Buber, M. Heidegger and other philosophers, in which they speak of moral distinctions, moral ideal, and cultural impact on the hierarchy of virtues and the human quality.
