Firstly the chosen issue is discussed theoretically, presenting some relevant schools of thought, such as Functionalism and Conflict theory statements on the importance of participating in non-formal education processes through the life-span. On the other hand, authors of this article deal with some statistical and mathematical evidence about reasons that make the meaning for participation/nonparticipation within such kind of education.
