The cooperation with the family when implementing medium supervision of the child: the experience of the employees of socialization centers

Abstract

In order to ensure the effectiveness of the measure of medium supervision and successful resocialization of the child with the inclination to commit crimes, it is especially important that the parents (guardians) of the child would actively cooperate with the socialization center, take part in the implementation of the measure of medium supervision of the child. The problematic question of the research is raised: What features of the cooperation with the family of the child (guardians), arising problems and the possibilities of their solution when implementing the medium supervision of the child are identified by the employees of socialization centers? The goal of the research is to reveal the peculiarities of the cooperation of the employees of socialization centers with the family (guardians) of the child when implementing the measure of medium supervision of the child.The strategy of quantitative research was used. The data collection method is a semi-structured interview. The result analysis was performed by using the method of content analysis. The research results revealed that socialization centers endeavor to maintain a permanent contact with parents (guardians) by using different cooperation forms: the engagement of parents in the process of the preparation and implementation of an individual plan for their child, telephoning home, writing letters, systematic informing about the behavior of their child, his learning achievements, talking individually when parents arrive or the child is transported home for his vacations; organizing days for parents; providing an opportunity to stay in the institution, lodge for a night, in case of the arrival of parents from further location, stay with their child for a longer time, and communicate with employees.
