This article examines the critical need to protect the physical and mental health of esports players through the lens of international human rights law, specifically Article 12 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR). It argues that esports organizations, have a duty to implement robust measures to prevent health issues and enhance player protection. Drawing on case law and practices from traditional sports, this article outlines comprehensive strategies for integrating health safeguards into esports contracts. These strategies include incorporating mandatory health protocols in player contracts, establishing internal health committees, external regulatory oversight, international cooperation, education and awareness campaigns, the role of player associations, and financial investment in player health. By adopting these measures, the esports industry can ensure a sustainable, healthy environment for players, ultimately contributing to the industry's long-term success and integrity.
