The experience of sexual self in the context of the first romantic relationship

Purpose. To reveal how mid-adolencent girls are experiencing their „novice“ sexual self in the space of first romantic relationship. Methodology. The qualitative hermeneutic longitudinal reserach, with the Interpretative Phenomenolocal data Analysis (Smith et al., 2009). Purposive sample. 9 female participants: 18 interviews’transcribts. Findings. 5 thematic categories emerged which describe different aspects of being sexual in the first romantic bond: Individualistic Self; Open Self; Happy Self; Excited Self; Experimenting Self Practical implications. Data have value for health educators, clinical psychologists, parents and teenages themselves. Research type: Empirical research paper.
