Interpretation of “Hybrid War” in Western and Ukrainian Scientific Discourses

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to comprehend the concept of «hybrid war» in Western and Ukrainian scientific discourses. It was used system approach, logical-semantic and comparative methods to solve the problems of the issue. The article proved that features interpretations of «hybrid warfare» in the western and Ukrainian discourse are that: Western scholars focus on the phenomenon studied hybridity as wars and threats; Ukrainian researchers focus on the clarity of the essence of the hybrid war and consider it as a phenomenon from the standpoint of dichotomy «new-old». The practical significance of the study is that the main theoretical positions and concrete proposals contained in the article can be used to solve scientific and practical problems in countering threats to the hybrid war.
