Abstract

The MA thesis „Topicality of Social Security Financing “ reviews the system of social security, its financing dynamics obtained from the state budget and related problems. The author compares the features of social security policy in Lithuania and Sweden. The first chapter introduces some concepts of social security provided by several authors, reveals the principles and the development of social security. Also this chapter deals with the structure and features of separate spheres of social security. Monetary part of social security is highlighted. The last part of the work introduces the concept of financing and the structure of the budget. Furthermore, the analysis of separate social spheres financing and tendencies of change are accentuated. Lithuanian policy of social security and Swedish social policy “country welfare” are compared in order to evaluate the effectiveness of social security policy. Furthermore, this part reviews the perspectives of improvement of social security financing. At the end of the work the author summarizes conclusions drawn from the research and puts forward some proposals for the improvement of financing and social policy in the social security.
