Work investigates into: Lithuania’s integration into EU since a chance of using structural funds was opened to Lithuania only after its accession into EU; support secured to Lithuanian from structural funds, the corresponding contributions and management because investments into health care depend on the overall development of economy; granting the support from EU structural funds for health care needs by separate measures (4); procedures of working out and implementing the project, including its practical aspects. Purpose of the work: to analyze how and to what degree the support from EU structural funds gets into health care system; and to study the project preparation and implementation procedures at Vilnius City University Hospital. Research methods used in the work: system analysis of relevant legal documents, scientific literature and information sources, document content analysis, comparative data analysis, mathematical statistics, practical observation as well as the analytical and the generalizing methods. If received, financial resources may facilitate the creation in Lithuania of living conditions equivalent to the ones observed in the developed EU states. Means from EU structural funds intended for health care system will give a chance to improve the quality and the availability of health services. Moreover, thy will allow to modernize the infrastructure of health care system and to raise the level of health workers’ qualification and knowledge. These investments will enable the reduction of developmental disharmony between Lithuania and EU old-timers. Financial support coming from the structural funds is allocated through projects envisaging definite results.
