Abstract

The main purpose of this master graduation work is to analyze the system of forest certification and administration, as well as to explore possibilities of private forest certification in the forests of Joniskis area. In order to achieve main goal common programs of forest certification were analyzed, as well as certification standards, institutions, and the process of forest certification. Also was discussed the development of forest certification in the World and Lithuania. The survey of forestry and certification situation in private forests was made. Results systematized and summarized assumptions for future forest certification was made. Research revealed that administration system of private forests certification is not effective. The survey of forestry and certification situation in private forests shows that the owners of private forests are not enough informed about forest certification and its benefits, as well as sale of forestry production isn’t explicated enough and earnings for forest certification are too small. Depending on results of researching author made assumptions for promoting forest certification in private forests. More attention was paid for forest administration in private sector, to inform the forest owners, and to fund the forest certification in private sector.
