Models of legal regulation of administration of accepting different officials of the Republic of Lithuania to the state service, their differences and similarities to the models of selection to the state service in other countries of the European Union and the realization of the current models in practice are analyzed in this Master’s final work on the theme “Models of Legal Regulation of Administration of Acceptance to the State Service and Their Realization”. On the grounds of legal literature of many EU countries we can state that there are several different types of state officials in Lithuania and other countries of the European Union; every type has its own model of acceptance to the state service. After analyzing the similarities and differences between these models the most efficient features of the models of acceptance to the state service were distinguished. Having performed the comparative analysis of the legislation of the Republic of Lithuania – the Constitution, laws, State resolutions, court judgements and other formal documents – and scientific publications we can state that the legal regulation of the state service has changed strongly after restoring the independence in Lithuania. This analysis is relevant as it is done for the first time after the changes in State service law of the Republic of Lithuania and other legislation, which came into effect from the 1st of July, 2006. Two conceptions of the state service were analyzed in this work: the wide one (in France, Spain) and the narrow one (in Lithuania, Austria, and Italy); three models of the state service were analyzed: the appointment model (in Sweden); the career model (in Austria, Belgium, Greece, France and Germany), and the composite model (in Lithuania, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Great Britain, Holland, Finland, Ireland, Luxemburg, Portugal). Having performed the analysis the models of the state service of Lithuania and other EU countries, the suggestions on the improvement of the model of the regulation of accepting to the state service in Lithuania were presented: concerning the implementation of a system of the centralized acceptance to the state service (tests according psychological dimensions, a practical task for testing the general background, a test for checking general subject knowledge and later official knowledge); the creation of potential state official database; the preparation of internal contests.
