This final paper to obtain the Master’s degree deals with labour disputes conception, the features of the disputes that enable distinguishing them from ordinary disagreements among parties entering legal employment relationships, reasons that cause labour disputes and peculiarities of their legal proceedings. Legal proceedings of labour disputes at courts have been given the major attention. Specific labour disputes investigated at first, appeal and cassation instance courts have been dealt with in the paper. It has been established that the first instance court mostly investigates labour disputes related to the unpaid remuneration for the employee. Appeal court and cassation instance court (the Supreme Court of Lithuania) mostly investigate labour disputes related to the termination of labour contracts. Results of the analysis show that plaintiffs – the employees, file most appeal and cassation claims with the court. The claims contain requests to indemnify non-pecuniary (moral) damage as well, however, the courts adjudicate only insignificant part of the damages. The paper also deals with most common mistakes of lower instance courts made while investigating labour disputes.
