The subject of the research of government public regulation is ageless and important at all times. Representatives of public offices, politicians, legal fraternity, economic advisers always debate on the extent and subject matter of government public regulation. Detached questions are analyzed in scientific studies, still there is no study researching the main features of government public regulation. Accordingly the aim of this work - is to define theoretical features of government public regulation and to reveal practical characteristics by the example of Lithuania. The final work consists of two parts. In the first part of the work the conception of government public regulation, its conformation and directions are analyzed, relationship between government public regulation and government functions is examined, and lay public regulation is reviewed. In the second part of the work law basis of public government regulation in Lithuania is determined, public offices are reviewed; characteristics of government public regulation in economical field are analyzed. Analyzed materials proves the hypothesis and enable deductions that government public regulation is implemented according to objective demand – in order to enhance competitive ability, to shelter market place seeking gradual development. There is a new tendency in modern countries to reorient the government public regulation from strict to soft mode, form direct to indirect forms, though at the same time countries build new regulation modes and establish lots of institutions regulating and charging the market. Of late years the government public regulation has been under the influence of integration to European Union transferring national law to EU acquis communautaire, yet particular aspect of government public regulation is the ability of Lithuanian politics.
