Bažnyčia Vatikano II Susirinkimo dokumentuose ir vėliau, analizuodama Bažnyčios misiją pasaulyje, nuolat primena ganytojams apie ganytojiškąjį pastoracinės tarnystės vaidmenį, kurį jie prisiima Šventimais ir jiems suteikta jurisdikcija. Atkreipdama dėmesį į Viešpaties ganytojams suteiktą galią mokyti, šventinti ir valdyti drauge iškelia tėviškų savybių, šventumo ir pavyzdžio reikšmę, vedant Dievo tautą link išganymo.
A bishop’s ministry is one of the most important topics in the Documents of Vatican Council II and it is also one of the topics discussed during the last decades. Therefore, the goal of this paper is to reveal the divine origin of a bishop’s mandate and the adaptation of the example of Christ, our Brother and Father, in the society, considering the power of teaching, sanctifying and governing given to clergy. As an instrument and example of the Most Holy Trinity, a bishop not only receives the fullness of grace of the Holy Orders, but, by his participation in the mission of the Church, he is also a collaborator of the Holy Spirit who unifies the community and distributes graces.
