Vietovės darnaus vystymosi procesą ir konkurencingumą užtikrina aplinkosauginių reikalavi-mų laikymasis žmogaus ūkinėje veikloje. Aplinka ir jos ištekliai suvokiami nebe kaip neišsenkantis materialinės naudos šaltinis, bet kaip vietovės plėtros tikslas, kurį reikia puoselėti siekiant ekonomi-nės gerovės, o kartu ir geresnės gyvenimo kokybės. Remiantis tarptautiniais bei nacionaliniais teisės aktais, moksliniais tyrimais ir kitais šaltiniais, analizuojamas darnaus vystymosi principo įgyvendini-mas. Tyrimo tikslas – identifikuoti darnaus vystymosi principo įgyvendinimo problemines sritis. Tai-kyti tyrimo metodai – sisteminė mokslinės literatūros analizė, sugretinimo, content, loginė bei lygi-namoji analizė, abstrakcijos metodas. Tyrimo rezultatai atskleidė, kad darnus vystymasis yra priorite-tinis Lietuvos vystymosi tikslas, o vietos savivaldos institucijos yra vienos svarbiausių institucijų sprendžiant aplinkosaugos problemas. Tačiau vietos savivaldos lygmenyje susiduriama su tokiomis problemomis, kaip siauros savivaldybių funkcijos, piliečių ir visuomenės suinteresuotumo dalyvauti sprendžiant aplinkos apsaugos problemas neskatinimas, finansinių išteklių trūkumas, vietos savival-dos, organizacijų orientacijų į ilgalaikes perspektyvas kultūros stoka, darnos nebuvimas ir kt.

Norint dirbti kurti, organizuoti, vystyti bei plėtoti bendruomenes, panaudoti jų išteklius įvairioms problemoms spręsti ir poreikiams patenkinti, svarbu suvokti kintančias bendruomenės sampratos traktuotes bei pažinti skirtingus bendruomenių tipus. Straipsnyje, remiantis mokslinės literatūros analize, aptariami įvairūs bendruomenių tipologizacijos kriterijai: tikslai; sociologiniai bruožai; vaidmuo dalijantis žiniomis; dydis; socialiniai-kultūriniai ypatumai, bendruomenės vidaus prigimtis, funkcionalumas; kuriamas asmens tapatumas. Išskiriami vietos, veiklos, institucinių, virtualių, interesų ir profesinių bendruomenių tipai. Kiek plačiau aptariami vietos bendruomenės sampratos ypatumai.

The paper reveals features of a European style of management as the competencies of top managers of international companies enabling them to better understand the processes taking place in modern business environment and to employ them in gaining competitive advantage. The precondition of this kind of management is based on historically formed specific features of social communication in Europe, social changes of recent decades, as well as the processes of integration, highlighting and strengthening other aspects of economy and social development. The paper consists of the introduction, two parts and the summary. The first part deals with the elements of the European management style, as distinguished by the researchers of this area, and the main aspects of international business, in which these elements manifest themselves, are identified. The second part substantiates understanding of the elements of the European style of management as the competencies of the top managers of international enterprises, based on the statements of the resource-based approach and the conception of basic competencies. The summary suggests that the elements of European management style, as the managers’ competences, can operate as leverage enabling better exploitation of resources (especially, human) and opportunities emerging in a business environment.

The development of different kinds of wellness spa services in Lithuania is in its infancy stage. Despite economic recession, a few categories of spa services showed resistance and even growth by establishing of new wellness spa centres, engaging new spa services and attracting more and more local and foreign tourists. The article focuses on the peculiarities of the two main categories of wellness spas: day and resort services, their historical development in the world, differences and similarities of wellness spa providers, depending on supplied services, specifics of service packages, value for a customer, duration of services, facilities needed, etc. The “wellness” term is rather new in Lithuanian scientific discourse, so, in this article, the explanation of this term by different scientists is presented. On the ground of the interviews with day and spa wellness service providers survey results as well as customer viewpoints are presented. The main problems that arise from satisfying the expectations of the customers are stressed. At the end of the article, the peculiarities of day and resort wellness spa services are developed and recommendations for providers in order to satisfy the customers are presented.
