The Role of Quasi-Court Institutions in European Countries

The master thesis examines functioning of quasi-court institutions in several European countries. In the first Chapter the definition of a quasi-court institution was analyzed. Besides, some significant features and classification of the institution were distinguished. Case law provided with deeper understanding and explanation of the features of quasi-courts. In the second Chapter quasi-courts on the European Union level were considered. In particular, functioning of different Boards of European Union Agencies were deeply analyzed and compared with significant features of a quasi-court institution. Additionally, this Chapter describes European Ombudsman as a type of quasi-court institution, its powers and procedure of case resolution. In the third Chapter system of quasi-courts in Lithuania, France, Germany and the United Kingdom were examined. The analysis provides also with the examination of importance of each institution. Moreover, the comparison of the systems of these countries were given in the master thesis.
