The aim of this master thesis was to analyze the impact of family social situation on child’s social skills. The tasks of the analysis were the following: 1. To analyze literature sources on the definition of family and social skills, family functions, miscellaneous family social situations and impact of family situations on child’s social skills. 2. To see the following: • what social situations of the families were reveled by the parents’ survey; • what is the impact of the family social situation on child’s social skills; • what social skills of the children are spotlighted by the parents. 3. Ito examine the prevailing family social situations by survey of 5-6 year-old children. The following hypotheses had to be confirmed: • The child’s social skills depend on the family social situation. The survey was performed in the Naujininkai district of Vilnius. The respondents were children of the kindergartens „ Želmenėliai“ and „ Pabiručiai“, as well as their parents. The analysis of the questionnaire data enables a conclusion to be drawn that above half of the children live together with their fathers and mothers. On the base of the questionnaire for parents and analysis results, the following conclusions can be drawn: above half of the respondents assert that their families are materially made. The respondents’ family status is the following: above half of the respondents are married; there were six lonely mothers; three living in concubinage and three divorced mothers. Above half of the families apply corporal punishments to their children. Parents devote to their children almost all their free time; they try to create a warm climate in their families to take care of their children needs, to give them the basic knowledge and to enable their social education.
