The topic of the Master's thesis is “The Role of the School Leader in Meeting Teachers’ Professional Development Needs.” Many Lithuanian and foreign researchers have studied teachers’ professional development. However, the role of the school leader in meeting these professional development needs has received relatively little attention. This research addresses the problem: What is the role of the school leader in meeting teachers’ professional development needs? The object of the study: the role of the school leader in fulfilling teachers’ professional development needs. The aim of the research is to reveal the role of the school leader in addressing teachers’ professional development needs. The objectives of the research are: to present the specifics of the school leader's activities, to discuss aspects of teachers’ professional development, and to assess the relationship between the activities of the school leader and teachers’ professional development. To substantiate the problem and prepare the theoretical framework of the work, an analysis of scientific literature and legal acts was conducted, forming the basis for the research design. The method selected for collecting empirical data was the interview (oral survey). A research instrument—a questionnaire for school leaders—was developed. The questionnaire consisted of 10 questions. A non-probability criterion-based sampling method was used to select the study sample. Seven informants who met four established criteria participated in the study. Following the research, a discussion, conclusions, and recommendations were presented. The conducted empirical research revealed that teachers’ professional development is an important aspect of school leaders' work. School leaders act as facilitators of professional development, addressing teachers’ needs and fostering a culture of a learning-oriented school.
