Licencinė sutartis Nr. MRU-EDT-2118.
Since its inception, the discipline of social work has incorporated various creative methods. The relevance of this thesis lies in its aim to reveal the possibilities of using drama therapy in social work with people with intellectual disabilities. In Lithuania, the application of drama therapy in social work with people with intellectual disabilities is not yet widespread. Although most social care institutions implement various artistic activities, drama therapy sessions are still only used in a small number of institutions, which is why there is a lack of integration of this methodology into social work practice. This indicates a need for a more in-depth analysis of the possibilities and effectiveness of drama therapy in this field. In the field of social work with people with intellectual disabilities, there is a lack of knowledge about the possibilities of applying drama therapy methods and the impact of these methods on the social skills and emotional well-being of these individuals. The object of the study is the application of drama therapy methods in social work with people with intellectual disabilities. The aim of the study is to reveal the possibilities of applying drama therapy methods in social work with people with intellectual disabilities. Research methods: analysis of scientific literature, semi-structured interviews, and qualitative content analysis to reveal the practical aspects of applying drama therapy in social work. Conclusions. The results of the empirical study revealed that social workers consider drama therapy methods to be an effective, flexible, and practical tool when working with people with intellectual disabilities. The experiences of the informants showed that these methods help to establish a connection with service users, especially in cases where verbal communication is limited. Social workers face challenges related to varying levels of ability, fluctuations in motivation, emotional sensitivity, lack of time and resources, and lack of methodological support. Nevertheless, informants emphasized that even simple elements of drama therapy applied in everyday practice can have a significant impact on individuals' emotional well-being and social development.
