Problema.
The problem. The persistent difficulties in ensuring the effectiveness and sustainability of social and educational services in VDCs, taking into account changing funding levels, increasing demand and constant adaptation to new challenges. How can VDCs maintain high-quality services with limited resources? Do VDC services meet the needs of their children and parents? What services are most relevant for the improvement? The aim of the research. Theoretically and empirically substantiate the importance of socio-educational services for children attending children's day care centres. Hypotheses: 1. Children and their parents are willing to get involved in VDC activities. 2. VDC services meet the needs of children and their parents. 3. VDC maintains high-quality services. Objectives of the research: 1. To reveal the theoretical aspects of the provision of socio-educational services to children attending day care centres and their significance. 2. To examine the role of day care centre employees for the children attending day care centres. 3. To analyse the good practices, challenges and overcoming them of socio-educational services in working with children in day care centres. 4. To perform empirical investigation of the quality of socio-educational services provided to children in day care centres and to substantiate their importance based on the perspectives of service recipients (children and their parents) and providers (VDC employees). Research methods: A combination of theoretical and empirical methods is used to achieve the objectives of this study. Theoretical methods include an analysis of relevant scientific literature and a review of existing legal and policy documents. Empirical methods include surveys of children, parents, and social workers, statistical analysis of quantitative data on the effectiveness of social-educational services. Conclusions: DCC services meet the needs of children and their parents. Children and their parents willingly engage into the DCC activities. Not all DCC services are of high quality. The best were rated the services of excursions, trips, camps, hobby classes, and events. Educational and physical education classes were rated well. While family counselling and mediation services, individual conversations with families, individual psychological assistance, visits to children's homes, and referral of children and their family members to special institutions were rated worse. Children in DCC receive the opportunity to communicate with friends, the help of a social worker, the opportunity to be themselves, also, psychological and academic support. This leads to improved mental and physical health of children, social behaviour and an improved microclimate in the children's families. DCC employees rated best the use of creative play for children's education and the qualifications of specialists. A good rating was for cooperation with parents and other institutions, while lack attention was observed for the children's mental health, integration of social and emotional learning, and the decision- making based on scientific data, the use of individualized work plans with children, the use of technology and other aspects of good practices. Recommendations for the DCC: To improve communication about DCC services using social media and institutions of social care; increase number of of educators and psychologists as well qualification of DCC employs in order to improve psychological and educational services; pay more attention to supporting children's mental health and developing children's resilience, integrating social and emotional learning, making decisions based on scientific data, using individualized work plans with children, using technologies, and becoming more interested in VDC good practice; to increase the efficiency of using the DCC financing by using the potential of VDC employees.
