Children, due to their immaturity and vulnerability, require additional protection. This is precisely what determines the need for the existence of children's rights. Only by properly exercising their rights a child can develop as a full-fledged personality. Children from the age of 14 have the right to engage in certain work that is not harmful to their health, spiritual and moral development, or interferes with their education. However, work is not an obligation for a child and the child can decide for himself whether he wants to work or not. The implementation of the rights of the child in cases of employment is extremely important, because only by properly implementing his rights can a safe and harmless working environment be ensured that does not hinder the child's proper development and improvement. Legislation strictly regulates the employment of children and establishes strict requirements for the employment of children, establishes a list of prohibited jobs, maximum working and minimum rest hours, and other requirements that ensure proper protection of a working child. The most dangerous phenomena that hinder the proper protection of working children and the proper implementation of children's rights are child trafficking in the context of labor exploitation and illegal work. A child exploited at work or working illegally will almost always be unable to properly exercise his or her rights, as these are phenomena that grossly violate almost all of the fundamental rights of the child. These phenomena are being combated at both the global, EU, and Lithuanian levels, but despite the significant progress made, many children still become victims of labor exploitation and illegal work. The possibilities for youth integration into the labor market are still limited. Employers lack motivation and desire to work among young people. Young people want a lot of everything at once. Meanwhile, young people lack compliance with legal requirements from the employer, and they experience pressure and unmotivating wages. State institutions and municipalities make great efforts to help minors begin the path of integration into the labor market. Youth employment programs are organized during the summer holidays, when students can try their hand at the labor market in their free time. However, as practice shows, current measures are insufficient to successfully integrate young people into the labor market. The state should make greater efforts and encourage both employers and young people to successfully integrate them into the labor market, as well as improve the current legal regulation, which both employers and young people believe is quite confusing and complicated.
