The study hypothesis suggested: to prove the positive effect of the development of studentsâ legal consciousness and internal motivation during the experiment conducted on the basis of the implementation of active learning methods. The study was carried out at Mykolas Romeris University Faculty of Public Security during 2010-2011 years. Overall 119 students of Law and police studies program took part in the research, i.e. 56 female and 63 male. The first phase of the research aimed at the review and selection of active learning methods. During the second phase two groups of students participating in the research were formed, i.e. the experimental and control groups. The results of the survey confirmed the positive effect of the development of studentsâ legal competence at the Faculty of Public Security. Positive results of the formation of reproductive performance components were theoretically justified and statistically confirmed during the research. In accordance to the authorâs personal experience of the implication of active teaching / learning methods, it can be argued that they promote learning motivation, interest in the subject of study, encourage studentsâ initiative and creativity, as well as contribute to the development of studentsâ skills.
