Purpose is to clarify the main peculiarities of implementation of business management systems (BMS) at large companies, to show possibilities of one type of BMS as SAP in realization for business processes based on the example of the Kraft Foods Company, and to provide recommendations for efficient implementation of complex BMS in the local market. Methodology/approach is based on the analysis of main features of BMS and the realization of life cycle phases of BMS SAP in large enterprises using real-life examples. The paper was written based on the author’s several years’ experience at the Kraft Foods Company, where he was responsible for systems implementation across multiple countries. Findings – after analyzing the main peculiarities of BMS implementation, the recommendations are made in relation to their improvement perspective. Ways of better realizing life cycle phases of BMS in large companies were introduced. Research implications – basic recommendations were introduced for efficient implementation of the business systems. This was achieved by comparing theoretical aspects of BMS implementation with Kraft Foods example. Practical implications – this study contributes to more efficient implementation of the business management systems based on recommendations from the analysis of the BMS implementation at Kraft Foods, and can help during other implementations. Originality/Value – the aspects of business systems implementation of a large multinational company have not yet been analyzed by Lithuanian scientists
