Abstract (en)
This paper was presented at the International Symposium on Mediation in Civil Disputes in Ankara, Turkey on December 6, 2018. The main goal of the paper is to provide an overview of mediation present situation, main challenges and ongoing developments in Lithuanian law. The special emphasis of this paper is brought to the recent changes in family mediation in Lithuania, namely, introduction of mandatory mediation in family disputes before starting civil case in the court from January 1, 2020. The paper also gives an insight on the amounts of civil cases and their types being mediated through court-mediation scheme in Lithuania, also their success comparing to the general rates of mediation success in other developed European countries.
