The basis for successful studies at a higher education institution as well as career choice is the system of knowledge and abilities, which a general education school forms for a young person. Pupilās activity at a lesson, his/her involvement into curriculum planning increases his/her learning motivation, induces creative thinking as well as taking responsibility for his/her learning and learning results, develops abilities to learn independently. The article presents the research, which was performed in the academic year of 2007-2008 and during which 1057 teachers and 2628 pupils from 49 general education schools in Lithuania participated. The results disclosed that cooperation of a teacher and a pupil in planning and organising curriculum influences motivation for pupilsā learning; however great differences among teachers delivering different instructional subjects emerge.
