Motivation in the Decision-Making Process of Migrants: Factors and Outcomes

The article aims to generalize theories of migration, identify factors influencing the migration decisionmaking processes, and ways of managing these processes. This research paper examines the paths migrants take, how migration affects their decision to relocate in search of work, and how they adjust to new surroundings over an extended period. The relevance of this study lies in the need to investigate the decision-making mechanisms employed by migrants to manage migration processes. An interdisciplinary method was used in the article. The online survey assessment of personal needs satisfaction in Ukraine, including factors, as economic, political, legal, and social issues, was presented. The impact of migration on the economy and society of the destination country of migrants has been revealed. The behavioural model of the migrants is analysed. The institutional and structural frameworks are essential for exploring the economic and social challenges in the decision-making processes of migrants. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has increased global uncertainty and instability. The large outflow of Ukrainian refugees from the country has led to a labour deficit in the country. It reflects the problems that migrants face when choosing a country. Important research questions revolve around measuring and predicting the effects of migration flows on the job market, wages, and business development. Research findings from the survey of the needs satisfaction of Ukrainians indicate that the current war in Ukraine has affected people’s decisions to leave the country for safer places. Improving living conditions and ending the violence in Ukraine will entice people to stay in the country. Safety and economic stability are the basic factors that encourage people to stay in their home country.
