In the last few decades the attention to environmental resources management is increasing worldwide. There are five key indicators which describe the main constraints posed on world’s future development: population growth, energy consumption, use of mineral and natural resources, CO2 concentration in atmosphere and shortage of water. Circular Economy (CE) is a new concept to an increasing extent treated as a solution to these series of challenges so it is important to evaluate CE at macro level. This paper pays particular attention and reviews the evaluation models of CE in the context of sustainable development, as sustainable development requires balanced and simultaneous consideration of the economic, environmental, technological and social aspects of an investigated economy.
