Each of the above-mentioned mechanisms is different from the rest ones in two ways: 1) who is seen as the main actor responsible for the application of new knowledge: a scientist or a practitioner; 2) what is the social force motivating this actor to use the new knowledge: a custom, law or economic incentive. Advantages and disadvantages of every mechanism are discussed. It is being concluded that no one of the suggested socio-managerial research application mechanisms is superior to the others but every mechanism has its advantages and disadvantages. The salience of every advantage or disadvantage and their ratio depends in every case on social, economic, organisational or legal context and can be quite different. It means that application of any new knowledge should be started with selection of the most appropriate research application mechanism, having the best ratio of advantages / disadvantages for a given innovation and in a given social, economic, organizational and legal context.
