Gross domestic product (GDP) is the most popular measure of macroeconomic activity. Currently it is the rate at which the world’s policy-makers are based on and it is widely used in public debates. GDP has also considered as the indirect indicator of societal development and progress in the broadest sense. However, because of the design and purpose, GDP cannot be relied upon in all political debates. GDP does not reflect the environmental sustainability or social inclusion. It is widely recognized that GDP should be linked to additional data and indicators. Citizens are worried about their life quality and well-being. The measures that ensure the quality of life and well-being - it is income, public services, health, leisure, wealth, mobility and a clean environment. Therefore, indicators related with these causal factors are very important to both governments and the EU. This paper analyzes the main indicators of quality of life in Lithuania and EU, their relationships and their dependence on the level of GDP.
