Žinant struktūrinius kriminalistinės nusikaltimų charakteristikos elementus ir tarp jų egzistuojančius ryšius, galima formuoti nusikaltimų tyrimo teorinius ir metodologinius pagrindus, prognozuoti naujų nusikaltimų būdų, priemonių atsiradimą, atlikti taikomuosius kriminalistinius mokslinius tyrimus, laiku reaguoti į atskirų nusikaltimų rūšių sistemų pakeitimus, algoritmizuoti nusikaltimų tyrimą. Algoritminiu požiūriu kriminalistinė nusikaltimų charakteristika turi būti maksimaliai išsami, nes tik tokiu atveju tyrėjui bus pateikiamos tiksliausios nusikaltimų tyrimo rekomendacijos, padėsiančios objektyviai iškelti pagrįstas versijas, pasirenkant gerai apgalvotas tyrimo kryptis bei optimalius tyrimo metodus.
