In Forensic Science Centre of Lithuania (LTEC) about one thousand examinations of various materials and products are made throughout one year. As show examination practice, the main part of carried out examinations of paints and plastics was appointed in traffic accident cases. In 2006 these examinations formed 72% in all appointed paint examinations and 37% in all appointed plastics examinations. Even 44% paints and 54% plastic examinations formed from expertises appointed in cases where pedestrians and cyclists were suffered in traffic accident. Material examinations are traditionally appointed for experts from LTEC asking to determine if on the victim's clothes are some micro particles of painting coat or plastics of motor vehicle. And after finding motor vehicle suspected taking part in traffic accident, it is ask to determine if painting coat of motor vehicle and-plastic are uniform (common group dependency) with particles found on victim's clothes. Though not only micro particles of motor vehicle painting coat and plastic may be left on victim's clothes but traces of victim's clothes - particles of textile material, textile fibres may be left on the motor vehicle. Positive results of expertise examination sometimes enable to provide categorical conclusion about the contact of victim's clothes with suspected motor vehicle. Examples of such successful examinations are presented in criminalistic literature of foreign countries. Obvious example of significance of examination of clothing textile material traces in concrete case of investigation of traffic accident is described in this article. The contact of victim's jacket and suspect's motor vehicle was stated after performing of combined trace evidence and textile fibers examination although on the injured in traffic accident person's jacket any particles of paints, plastics and glass from motor vehicle wasnot found.
