In bank-based financial systems with persistent dominance of commercial banks gauging their financial stability by using quantitative methods is crucial as stability of such financial systems is directly related to the one of individual commercial banks. Multiple criteria evaluation has following prominent features, which make such methods attractive for evaluation of financial stability of commercial banks. Such evaluation is relatively inexpensive; allows having prompt results; embeds holistic approach by comprising mutually-conflicting criteria; results of evaluation are well-understood even by non-experienced decision-makers;possibility to make instant adjustments of used models to changing economic environment by altering weights of criteria; possibility to use several methods simultaneously for the purpose of increasing stability of evaluation; possibility to make absolute evaluation without involving peer alternatives, which also allows to monitor dynamics of stability.
