Aim of Investigation: Dietary characteristics of students at the Kaunas Police Faculty were investigated in this work. Object of Investigation: 276 students of the Kaunas Police Faculty, including 99 females and 177 males (99.3% of all students who entered the Faculty in 1998). Methods of Investigation: A standardized diet questionnaire was created in collaboration with scientists from the Kaunas Institute of Cardiology. The analysis of the main features was based on respondents' answers to particular questions. The data were analyzed according to standard statistical methods. Results of Investigation: It was established that many of the students follow non¬rational feeding patterns: they usually have meals 3.3 times a day. Just 39.0% of the girls and 67.4% of the boy s (p<0.001) regularly eat breakfast, dinner and supper. According to the data, meal frequency is different in males and females (p<0.001). More girls than boys have 2-3 meals a day, and more boy s than girls have 4 and more meals a day. Some differences between the genders in the amount of food consumed can also be seen. Conclusion: The meal time-table habits of female students are less beneficial in terms of health than those of male students.
