The system of administrative courts of Lithuania

In order to ensure a more efficient and more operational judicial protection of human rights and freedoms and control over the actions of public administration at the end of the twentieth century (1999) Lithuania has established functioning administrative courts. Thus, in modern and advanced democratic countries a widespread autonomous and independent special administrative justice model for resolution of arising disputes between individuals and the public administration was created. This particular article is intended for the analysis of institutional structure of the administrative judicial system of Lithuania. Administrative Courts as an examination of specialized judicial system starts from the historical aspect that is from an overview of development. In the article the most attention is focused on the search of the model of Lithuanian system of administrative courts. The competence of Administrative Court of First Instance and of the Court of Appeal of Lithuania is also being examined. The findings obtained during the survey are presented at the end of the article.
