Evaluation of the interaction between the state seaport governance model and port performance indicators

Abstract

The Eastern Baltic Sea region is dominated by state owned and municipal seaports. Therefore while evaluating the sea- port’s performance and the impact of the port’s activities to the national economy, the port managers must carry out a holistic assessment of the activities of the seaport. Mod- ern economic theories suggest that in order to evaluate any economic phenomena, the country’s economic system, its macroeconomic indicators, also social progress and qual- ity of life indicators must be taken into consideration. Given these facts the aim of the paper is to present the method- ological approach of the interaction between the state sea- port governance model and port performance indicators.
