Adequacy of labour law and social policy instruments aimed to increase youth employment in Lithuania

The article aims to discuss different instruments of youth employment incentives in Lithuania. The research carried out by the authors includes main three parts. Firstly, specific statistical data concerning the rates of youth employment and their changes are presented. Secondly, authors provide the evaluation of specific fields in labour relations regulated by labour law in Lithuania which have impact on youth employment, as well their relation with the principles established at the EU level. Thirdly, the article discusses specific social policy instruments directly or indirectly used for the tackling the problem of youth employment. Special care is taken to analyse Lithuanian legislation relating youth employment and stay in labour market on the ground of equal treatment. The article contains analysis of EU legislation, Lithuanian national legislation, statistical information as well as research works of different authors. Finally, conclusions and recommendations concerning youth employment policy and labour legislation are provided.
