Lithuanian and international law science for more than 40 years in enriched by Pranas Kūris creations, first of all studies, monographers, the publications on international law sources. Now he is for already a long time thanks to his works and activity well known and recognized among European Union members as the European Court of Human Rights and European Court of justice judge and celebrates the anniversary of real human life, science and activity maturity. Therefore the occasion and opportunity occurs to try to honor the celebrant in science and activity field. The expression of this respect is collective international law studio, dedicated to Pranas Kūris. Pranas Kūris was born on 20 August 1938 in Šeduva, in 1961 he graduated from Vilnius university Law faculty in which he lectured in 1961-1963. In 1963-1965 he continued his studies in Moscow university Law faculty, worked as docent (1965-1969 and 1971-1973), dean (1969-1971 and 1973-1977). At the same time he has deepened his knowledge in Paris university Higher inter¬national studies institute (1967-1968), Hague international law academy (1970). He has defended doctoral thesis in Moscow university (1973), in 1974 he became the professor of international law at Vilnius university. Pranas Kūris has started his practical lawyer's activity since 1977 when he was appointed as USSR minister of justice. After the restoration of Lithuanian statehood by the act of 11 March 1990, he was nominated as the minister of justice of Lithuanian Republic (until 1991), later on - Lithuanian Republic state counsel (1991-1992). P.Kūris was state delegation member for the negotiations with the USSR. In 1992-1994 he was Lithuanian Republic special accredited ambassador in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. In April of 1994 P. Kūris is elected as a judge of the European Court of Human Rights.
