This chapter covers the main aspects of administrative law in Lithuania: historical background, the interrelationship between public administration and administrative law, the system, legal basis, and principles of administrative law. Moreover, it reveals the organization of public administration (e.g., state, regional, and municipal levels) and civil service. It also provides overviews of the main institutes of Lithuanian administrative law: administrative activity (normative and individual administrative acts, administrative contracts, internal administrative acts, administrative supervision, other activities), pretrial review of administrative disputes, judicial review of the legality of administrative activity (organization of administrative courts and jurisdiction, grounds for judicial review), other types of control of public administration (constitutional review, administrative review, parliamentary scrutiny, State Audit Office, ombudsperson, anti-corruption institutions, public control), and the liability of public administration. The chapter also discusses the impact of European administrative law on the development of Lithuanian administrative law.
