Lietuvos Statutai yra pripažinti pažangiausia XVI a. kodifikuota teisės sistema, jie iki šiol laikomi Lietuvos valstybingumo simboliu. Vieninga to laikotarpio teisės sistema atspindėjo unikalią Lietuvos politinę bei socialinę struktūrą, padėjo spręsti vidaus nesutarimus ir dorotis su išorinėmis grėsmėmis, taip sustiprindama Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės valstybę, kuriai priklausė įvairių luomų, tautų, etninių grupių gyventojai, laikęsi skirtingų įstatymų, papročių, tradicijų, išpažinę įvairias religijas. Lietuvos Statutuose derinti pasaulietinis ir krikščioniškasis požiūriai, sprendžiant įvairius valstybės ir visuomenės klausimus. Ypač vertinamas Lietuvos Statutuose išdėstytas šeimos gyvenimo, tėvų valdžios, vaiko teisių, globos kausimų reguliavimas. Straipsnyje nagrinėjamas tėvų valdžios ir vaiko teisių santykis Lietuvos Didžiojoje Kunigaikštystėje, atsiskleidęs I bei III Lietuvos Statutų tekstuose, atspindinčiuose to laikotarpio teisės kodifikavimo pradžią ir pabaigą.
The Statutes of Lithuania are recognized as the most progressive codified legal system of the 16th century and are still considered a symbol of Lithuanian statehood. The unified legal system of that period reflected the unique political and social structure of Lithuania, helping to resolve internal disputes and external threats, thereby strengthening the state of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. This state was home to various social classes and ethnic groups who followed different laws, customs and traditions and practised different religions. The Statutes of Lithuania combined a secular and Christian approaches to resolving various issues of state and society. They are particularly valued for their regulation of family life, parental authority, children’s rights, and guardianship issues. This article analyses the relationship between parental authority and children’s rights in the texts of the First and Third Statutes of Lithuania, marking the beginning and end of the codification of law in that period.
