The socio-economic inequality has become one of the most relevant problems in world6 economy. The studies that have been done in the past ten years revealed that high level of inequality stops economic growth. The standard means to measure socio-economic inequality include such methods and aspects as income inequality and inequality of consumption, however, the latter criteria of measurement do not reflect the actual level of inequality. In order to find out the actual level of socio-economic inequality, the wealth distribution should be analyzed. However, up until now, the aspects of unequal distribution of material living conditions and housing inequality were not the main objects of proper and sufficient scientific research. Due to this fact, the main aspects to be analyzed in this article are the distribution of material living conditions and housing inequality in Lithuania and other EU countries, with the special focus on the extent and volatility of the problem.
