The paper deals with interrelations between internal and external factors of social environment which present dangers for the harmonious development of state and society, and national security in all its types. In some circumstances these dangers grow into threats, what demands certain coordinated measures taken by the state and society in order to predict, eliminate and neutralize them. The dangers are classified according to the causes and sources of their appearance, their purview, the rate of development, destructive capacity, etc. Main attention is paid to social and military security, which constitute the basis of national security. A mathematical model is proposed to determine a degree of interrelation between the factors of social environment and the types of national security.
