Abstract
Numerous studies confirm the importance and growing role of tourism – especially in EU countries, where tourism is considered a strategic priority. This is due to the growing demand for tourism services and the potential for the relatively rapid accumulation of tourism potential, which has a multiplier effect on many economic sectors. For these reasons, tourism is particularly important for the less prosperous EU Member States, especially in the context of recession. Risk and the perception of risk play a major role in the development of tourism. This paper aims to disclose how tourism risk is perceived, which scholars analyze tourism risk, and how tourism risk can be classified.
