Abstract (en)
The rate of world migration has not only increased, but it has changed their age structure during the last years. Now the third part of all world migrants is youth. The main causes of youth migration are: unemployment, poverty, poor quality of life, problems related to education and difficult political situation. The youth unemployment rate exceeds 12.5 % in the world, so about 73 million young people are not employed today. The paper deals with youth unemployment and youth emigration in EU and Lithuania. The main aim of this paper is to show how the youth unemployment is related to the youth emigration growth and to highlight the problem of gender gaps in unemployment.
