Criminalistics didactics is the most reliable transmission between science of criminalistics and practice. The authors of the article constantly monitor the changes and innovations of criminalistics didactics. Over the past few decades there has been observed an increased interest in criminalistics didactics around the world, which we see not only in the return of criminalistics to university law studies, but also in the ever- increasing formation of specialized undergraduate and graduate studies of criminalistics at universities in Europe, America, and other regions. Our insights and analysis of Lithuanian practice has shown that we are lacking a specialized legal program with a strong criminalistics content. It is helpful for development of a new specialization of the Bachelor of Law study program "Law and Criminalistics", which we have been implementing at the Academy of Public Security of Mykolas Romeris University since 2020. This article deals with significant issues of criminalistics didactics through the prism of the results of questionnaires for students enrolled in the new study program „Law and Criminalistics” of the Mykolas Romeris University Academy of Public Security. The authors emphasize that students must become a full-fledged subject of the study process and actively participate not only in the evaluation of study programs, subjects taught, their implementation methods, ways and means, teachers involved in the study process, but also have the opportunity to actively participate in its development by proposing new subjects and topics and their forms of implementation. The empirical part of this article consists of opinions by 115 starting students about their expectations and ideas about studies and future professional activities. The questionnaire was conducted during the first sessions. This survey is ongoing as a second survey is planned at the end of the first semester (has already been realized), after which these students will be surveyed after each course. Such a constant analysis of students' opinions will not only help to improve the content and quality of teaching of the specialization "Law and Criminalistics" of the Bachelor of Law study program, but will also allow to respond online to the needs of practice.
