Disability in Management Research: Towards Inclusive Career Development
[Negalios samprata vadybos moksluose: įtraukiosios karjeros link.]
    research article[2025][S4][S003][15]
    Organizacijų vadyba : sisteminiai tyrimai., 2025-09-06, p. 85-99

This article addresses the limited integration of disability-related topics into management research, with a focus on inclusive career development. While diversity and inclusion are frequently emphasized in strategic organizational goals, disability remains an underexplored dimension. The aim of this study is to identify research trends, conceptual gaps, and emerging directions in academic literature on disability in the context of management and career studies. Using bibliometric analysis of 1325 articles from the “Web of Science” database, this research distinguishes dominant themes, author networks, and temporal shifts in focus. The findings reveal that most studies approach disability from a health or policy angle, with weak integration into strategic human resource or talent management discourse. The study high- lights the need for a paradigmatic shift from a deficit-oriented to an empowerment-based approach and proposes directions for future inquiry in inclusive talent and career management.

The object of this study is to assess administrative reforms and change from the point of view of theoretical administrative models of hierarchical (traditional) administration, New Public Management (NPM), and New Public Governance (NPG) in Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovakia. Normative models offer a critique of legacy administrative practices; their wholesale implementation is seldom practical or successful. Reforms framed as “modernization” in these countries over the past three decades have generally followed the principles of NPM. Although policy arguments for introducing elements of NPG can be observed in the studied cases, the paper argues that NPG’s rhetorical attractiveness for resolving perceived shortcomings of other models lacks specific implementation mechanisms that would be viable within the existing institutional framework of the studied countries. Factors, such as the relatively small size of Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovakia, and obvious benefits of EU integration, appear to have moderated reforms to a point that core institutional features have become stable, and are also similar among the three countries: the dominance of hierarchical administrative model with rigid separation of powers structure and strong courts that can adjudicate administrative decisions, with numerous NPM inspired “modernization” measures, including the introduction of various interactive public services. The paper’s findings support the idea that Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovakia are administrative systems that have stable core governance institutions, and national public administrations modernize various aspects of their operation by introducing elements of NPM and NPG within the executive, but not reviewing the basic setup of these institutions. From this point of view, the findings are in line with the assumptions of the normative model of Neo-Weberian State (NWS).

The paper aims to highlight the relevance of complexity theory application to organizational career management processes and systems. This perspective enables to reveal and analyse the employees’ career management challenges faced by organizations in the context of high complexity. The study shows that organizations strive for a flexible and adaptable workforce while employees seek to increase their employability and competitiveness in organizations and in the labour market. Consequently, the role of current organizations in the context of complexity in employees’ career management is to help them to sustain and grow their career potential thereby strengthening their own competitive advantage.

    Organizacijų vadyba : sisteminiai tyrimai. Kaunas : Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas, 2019, t. 82., p. 1-11

The paper is based on a scientific literature analysis and, by examining scientific insights, it focuses on the assumption that Big Data Analytics (BDA) is an alternative used in modern organizations in decision making at e-mass service customization. An overall orientation to BDA application in management processes is presented as a useful construct not only for improving the decision-making procedure but also as a relevant source for strategic planning, process and cost optimization activities as well as for changes in supply chain and risk management. The data was obtained through the scientific literature analysis and systematized theoretical insights of the BDA influence in both possibility and obstacle dimensions to e-mass service customization.

The rapid changes in technologies for representing learning content impact the modern concept of e-learning. They enable the implementation of personalized learning, development of a friendly, flexible and simulation-based learning environment. In this paper, the e-learning environment for Geography was analysed. In order to implement personalized active learning in Geography teaching and learning, the requirements of an adaptive tool for Geography teaching and learning are discussed and the theoretical framework for personalized e-learning environment is proposed. Based on previous experimental pedagogical research (carried out in Slovakia between 2008–2013 within the national project “Modernisation of the Educational Process in Elementary and Secondary Schools”), a new geospatial technological approach and theoretical framework for active learning process is discussed, and the prototype of a new Mapker for Geography teaching and learning is presented.

The article presents an evaluation of social care quality following the EQUASS methodology. The evaluation was carried out considering the aspects of institutional care reform and factors of intersectoral collaboration and partnership between organizations providing social services which are important for the spread of good practice, more effective institution management and optimization of state resource use. In addition, the article discusses the requirements for social care institutions‘ service quality, analyzes the main models for service quality assessment applied in Lithuania and the EU. The research has shown that based on the evaluation of researchsubjects, the social care institutions‘ service quality is quite high. The quality of services could be improved by eliminating the weaknesses of intersectoralcollaboration.
